The God Who Flips the Script

Have you ever felt overlooked like you’re the “low tree” in a forest full of tall ones? Maybe others seem to be thriving while you’re just trying to stay rooted. Ezekiel 17:24 reminds us that God has the final word over promotion, growth, and destiny. In this verse, God declares that He is the one who can bring down what seems unshakable and raise up what seems forgotten. The “tall tree” symbolizes pride, power, and self-dependence. The “low tree” represents humility, dependence, and trust in God.

God delights in flipping the script. What looks weak to the world, He makes strong. What seems barren, He causes to bloom. This is how He reveals His glory… by doing the impossible in the lives of those who trust Him. So, if you’re in a season that feels like waiting, obscurity, or pruning remember… God is still writing your story. The same hand that humbles the mighty will lift up the faithful in His perfect time. Your “dry tree” moments are not wasted…. they’re preparation for flourishing in ways that point back to Him.

Trust the Gardener. He knows how to make beauty grow from the places you thought were dead.

Reflection:

  1. Where in your life do you feel like the “low tree” right now?

  2. How might God be using this season to prepare you for growth?

  3. What would it look like to trust His timing and His pruning process?
