I Am Because He Is

As I was reading Ezekiel 34, I noticed something that kept appearing throughout the chapter.

God was making declarations… "I will make them a blessing." "I will send down showers in season." "I will provide for them." "I am with them." "You are My sheep." "I am your God."

The more I read, the more I realized that every promise God made was revealing something about who He is… and because of who He is, it changes who I am.

Because He is Provider, I do not have to live in lack. Because He is Protector, I do not have to live in fear. Because He is Deliverer, I do not have to remain a victim. Because He is Shepherd, I do not have to wander without direction. Because He is God, I can rest in knowing I belong to Him.

So often we allow our circumstances to define us. We say… "I am overwhelmed." "I am forgotten." "I am stuck." "I am not enough."

But God speaks a different identity over His people.

In Ezekiel 34, He reminds His people that they are not abandoned. They are not left to fend for themselves. They are His.

Not only does He provide for them, but He promises showers of blessing in their season. Not only does He rescue them, but He breaks the yoke that once held them captive. Not only does He bless them, but He calls them a blessing.

What stood out to me most is that every promise points back to Him… The fruit is for His glory. The provision is for His glory. The blessing is for His glory. The victory is for His glory.

And because of Him, I can confidently say… I am blessed. I am a blessing. I am not a victim, but a victor. I am His. Not because of anything I have done, but because of who He is.

Sometimes we spend so much time asking God to change our circumstances that we forget He is also trying to remind us of our identity. Maybe today that's exactly what you need to hear.

You are His. And because He is faithful, present, and good, you can walk confidently in who He says you are.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for reminding me that my identity is found in You. Help me to see myself through the lens of Your promises instead of my circumstances. When I forget who I am, remind me whose I am. Let my life bear fruit for Your honor and glory, and may every blessing point back to You. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
