Called to Speak

Ezekiel’s calling came in a time of rebellion and spiritual decay. God told him to stand up, and He would speak to him — and what followed was a commission that many of us can relate to more than we realize. God was sending Ezekiel to a stubborn, hard-hearted people. They would likely not listen. But God didn’t call Ezekiel to convince them... He called him to speak. To be faithful. To carry His words without fear.

We, too, live in a world that often resists truth. Sharing the Good News can feel intimidating, especially when we know we may be mocked, ignored, or dismissed. But Ezekiel 2 reminds us that obedience is our responsibility... not the outcome. God isn't asking us to be successful in the world’s eyes; He’s asking us to be faithful in His.

God told Ezekiel, “Do not be afraid of them or their words... You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen” (Ezekiel 2:6-7, NIV). This same call rests on us. Whether in conversations with a friend, on social media, in our homes, or in our communities, we are carriers of truth. We are the light of the world... not because of who we are, but because of who Jesus is in us. And light is meant to shine, even in the darkest places.

So, be bold. Be gentle. Be obedient. Speak truth in love. Whether they listen or not, you are doing what God has called you to do. And that matters.

Prayer:

Father, give me courage like Ezekiel. Remind me that I am not alone when I speak Your truth, even when it’s hard. Help me to love people enough to be honest with them, and to trust You with the results. Let me be a light that shines with Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
